Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Construction Safety Manager for UC Santa Barbara campus. This 12-month, 1099 contractor role provides daily field safety oversight for campus construction activities and leads onboarding, JHA development, and safety training.

The ideal candidate has OSHA 500 or 510 and 3+ years of construction safety experience, with BCSP or campus construction exposure preferred. You will drive safety meetings, audits, and ensure OSHA compliance across trades.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily field safety oversight for campus construction activities
• Conduct new hire safety orientations and onboarding programs
• Develop, review, and track Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
• Perform routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments
• Monitor subcontractor activities and construction operations
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
• Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate corrective actions
• Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel
• Lead and attend project safety meetings
• Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors
• Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project

Construction Safety Manager

Location: Santa Barbara, CA
Duration: 12 Months (Start: Immediate Need)
Type: 1099 Contractor

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $65/hr
Per Diem: None
Completion Bonus: $150/month
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Schedule: Monday-Friday | Day Shift | 40 Hours Per Week
Additional Schedule Details: Standard 8-hour shifts supporting long-term campus construction activities.
