Big-D Mission Critical is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead all health, safety, and environmental programs on a large data center construction project in Reno, NV. The role focuses on championing a proactive safety culture and ensuring safe execution of complex activities with OSHA-compliant practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of construction safety experience.
• Mission-critical, industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, or data center experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
• Experience working with MEP-intensive construction scopes.
• Ability to influence teams and drive accountability at all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Champion a proactive, behavior-based safety culture on the project.
• Serve as the primary safety resource for project teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
• Promote safe work practices and coaching for improvement.
• Lead daily, weekly, and monthly safety initiatives and communications.
• Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans.
• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and safety observations.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and client safety requirements.
• Lead crane/rigging, excavation, energized work, LOTO, fall protection, critical lifts, confined space, hot work.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; develop corrective actions.
• Maintain incident, near-miss, and observation reporting; analyze safety trends.
• Facilitate safety orientations and ongoing training; ensure subcontractor compliance.
• Review JHAs/AHAs/pre-task plans; maintain safety records.
• Conduct subcontractor safety evaluations and audits; support preconstruction planning.
• Represent the project in client safety meetings and audits; develop safety updates for leadership.

Big-D Mission Critical is looking for an experienced and qualified Safety Manager to focus on a large data center project. The Safety Manager is responsible for leading all health, safety, and environmental programs on large-scale mission-critical data center construction projects

This position is located in Reno, NV.

The Safety Manager is a critical leader responsible for protecting personnel, maintaining client confidence, and ensuring safe execution of complex mission-critical construction activities. This role helps create an environment where teams can successfully deliver high-profile data center projects while maintaining the highest standards of safety excellence.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Experience working on large commercial projects in a safety capacity.

• Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and pre-task plans.
• Maintain required project safety records and documentation.

Subcontractor Management

• Conduct subcontractor safety evaluations and audits.
• Participate in preconstruction planning activities.
• Ensure subcontractors meet project safety expectations.
• Hold subcontractors accountable for compliance with project safety standards.

Client & Stakeholder Coordination

• Represent the project during client safety meetings and audits.
• Collaborate with owner representatives and third-party safety professionals.
• Support project leadership with safety reporting and performance metrics.
• Develop and present safety updates to project and executive leadership.
