Job summary

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals seeks a Safety Manager to lead safety programs across projects and facilities. You will train staff on health and safety protocols, develop site-specific safety plans, and manage audits and regulatory compliance to ensure a safety-first culture.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in construction/waste/transport safety, OSHA 30, and strong communication skills. Expect on-site roles with travel and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in construction, waste, and/or transportation safety.
• OSHA 30 Certification is required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Solid knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques.
• Strong problem-solving, data collection, and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly with coworkers, management, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Commitment to maintaining compliance with Veit policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manages safety compliance for construction, facility, fleet, and field operations.
• Investigates safety incidents, near misses, workers’ comp issues, and property damage; determines root cause and mitigation.
• Performs in-house training on site safety and regulations.
• Writes site-specific safety programs and Health and Safety Plans.
• Conducts regular site safety audits and provides coaching.
• Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, MDH, MPCA, DOT, and other regs.
• Maintains and distributes air monitoring instruments.
• Conducts safety orientations for new employees, supervisors, and subcontractors.
• Analyzes needs and specifies PPE and safety gear.
• Looks for ways to improve safety performance and employee well‑being.
• Assists management in creating new safety policies and procedures.
• Keeps abreast of industry trends and maintains certifications.
• Notifies supervisor of actions impacting assignments or operations.
• Performs other duties as needed by management.
• Provides backup support for the Safety Coordinator.
