Job summary

Capital Waste Services is seeking a Safety Manager to lead safety programs across locations. The role partners with operations to promote a culture of safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement.

You will conduct audits, investigations, and training while maintaining records and reporting to leadership. The position requires collaboration with managers, field staff, and executives, with travel between facilities and a focus on reducing risk and improving safety

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or related field preferred.
• Three to five years of safety, compliance or risk management experience.
• Experience conducting investigations, audits, inspections, and safety training programs.

Responsibilities

• Implement and support company safety programs, initiatives, and policies.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, facility assessments, and field observations.
• Identify workplace hazards and develop corrective action plans.
• Plan, organize, and deliver safety training for employees and managers.
• Investigate accidents, injuries, near misses, and incidents, with root-cause analysis.
• Monitor regulatory requirements and ensure OSHA, DOT, FMCSA compliance.
• Prepare reports and presentations on safety performance for leadership.
