Job summary

Sheakley is hiring a Construction Safety Manager in Vernon, TX for a 3+ month, 1099 contractor assignment on a large data center project. You will lead daily safety activities for structural steel erection, work closely with ironworkers, crane operators, and project leadership to keep operations compliant and on schedule.

The role requires OSHA 30 and OSHA 510 certifications, plus proven steel erection safety oversight.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily safety activities for structural steel erection operations.
• Maintain a highly visible field presence alongside ironworkers and project supervision.
• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, field observations, and risk assessments.
• Monitor installation of structural framing, bracing systems, and miscellaneous steel.
• Support field bolting, welding, and structural connection activities.
• Monitor crane operations, rigging, hoisting, and material placement.
• Verify proper alignment, plumbing, leveling, and temporary stabilization of structural steel members.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, OSHA Subpart R, and project safety requirements.
• Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), lift plans, permits, and pre-task plans.
• Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
• Maintain safety documentation, reports, inspections, and compliance records.
• Partner with project leadership to proactively identify and mitigate hazards.
• Promote a strong safety culture throughout the project.

Construction Safety Manager

Location: Vernon, TX

Duration: 3+ Months (Start: 8/3)

Type: 1099 Contractor

Pay Rate: $60/hr (Local) | $52/hr (Non-Local)

Per Diem: $125/Day (7 Days Per Week for Non-Local Candidates)

Completion Bonus: $150/month

Pay Frequency: Weekly

Schedule: Monday-Saturday | 12-Hour Days 60+hours/WK

Required Qualifications

• Critical lift and crane operation experience
• Fall Protection Competent Person training

Salary: $52 - $60 per hour
