Job description

The Senior Safety Manager for Megawatt Construction is responsible for leading and overseeing safety programs and initiatives across multiple data center construction sites. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, fosters a culture of safety, and implements best practices to prevent accidents and incidents. The Senior Safety Manager collaborates with project teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to promote a safe working environment throughout the project lifecycle.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Safety Program Leadership: Lead and manage the implementation of comprehensive safety programs across multiple data center construction projects, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Site Safety Oversight: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver safety training programs for project teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to enhance safety awareness and compliance.
  • Incident Management: Oversee the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses, analyzing root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to integrate safety into project planning and execution.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry safety standards and best practices, recommending and implementing improvements to safety programs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years in a construction safety role, with at least 5 years in a leadership position overseeing safety programs for large-scale data center or similar critical infrastructure projects.
  • Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent safety certification is required. OSHA 30 HR required; OSHA 500 course certification preferred.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction codes, and industry best practices. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Travel: Ability to travel to multiple job sites as needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in safety management within the construction industry, with at least 5 years focused on data center fit‑out projects.
