Position Overview
Leviat is seeking an experienced and strategic Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve our Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs. This leadership role is responsible for developing and implementing site-wide safety strategies, managing environmental compliance initiatives, and fostering a proactive culture focused on employee health, safety, and regulatory excellence. This position works closely with all levels of management and employees to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce organizational risk, and support operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and mentor site safety personnel and Safety Steering Committee members to drive a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and management systems in alignment with OSHA, EPA, and company requirements.
- Partner with Plant Managers and Operations Leadership to establish strategic safety objectives, monitor performance metrics, and identify opportunities for risk reduction.
- Serve as the site's subject matter expert and advisor regarding OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
- Direct all incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action plans, and injury management processes to prevent recurrence and improve organizational performance.
- Oversee environmental programs including waste management, stormwater compliance, air emissions, hazardous materials management, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory reporting.
- Conduct comprehensive safety and environmental audits to assess compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate standards.
- Analyze injury trends, near misses, safety observations, and audit findings to develop proactive strategies that reduce workplace risk and improve performance.
- Lead hazard identification and risk assessment activities, ensuring effective controls are implemented and maintained.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and management, ensuring regulatory and operational requirements are met.
- Manage contractor safety programs, permitting processes, and compliance activities associated with facility operations.
- Guide the selection, implementation, and effectiveness of personal protective equipment (PPE) programs.
- Maintain accurate safety and environmental records, reports, permits, and compliance documentation.
- Stay current on evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards, providing leadership with recommendations to ensure ongoing compliance and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with corporate leadership on strategic HSE initiatives and continuous improvement programs.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive safety leadership experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or construction environment.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, OSHA 30-Hour, or equivalent preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and EHS management systems.
- Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and provide practical guidance to management and employees.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and collaboration skills with the ability to influence all levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing safety teams and influencing organizational culture.

- Capability to lift items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Capability to stand or walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
- This position may require various physical activities, including but not limited to walking, standing, bending, stretching, and using hands and fingers to grasp, push, and lift items.
