Agru America, Inc. seeks a Safety Manager to lead the ongoing development and implementation of safety policies at all manufacturing locations in the United States. You will drive a culture of safe operations and compliance with OSHA and company procedures.

Responsibilities include coordinating training, conducting audits, maintaining records, and guiding corrective actions. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and a proactive safety mindset.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years safety experience in an industrial/distribution environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA regulations.

Job Summary

The Safety Manager is responsible for the continuous development of safety policies and procedures and ensures successful implementation of such at all Agru America manufacturing locations. The Safety Manager is ultimately responsible for continuously maintaining an effective workplace safety program and culture.

Responsibilities

Develops and provides regular certification/training to new and current employees on safety topics to include but not limited to: first aid, AED, CPR, blood borne pathogens, the operation of powered industrial trucks, the proper use of and handling of chemicals and hazardous waste, lock out tag out, fire extinguisher/ fire drill and other safety topic applicable to their specific job responsibilities/ manufacturing location.

Ensures monthly training topics are covered as well as required annual refresher trainings.

Regularly conducts and/or coordinates on-site safety reviews/audits and job safety analysis at all locations to ensure compliance with safe working operations as specified and required by OSHA and company policy and procedure.

Follows up with plant management to ensure proper corrections are made on a timely basis in order to avoid potential OSHA penalties and to keep employees safe.

Continuously maintains accurate company safety manual and OSHA administrative paperwork to include training logs, OSHA 300 logs, OSHA postings and other information as required.

Develops and maintains an aggressive accident investigation program to include but not limited to: immediate detailed on-site investigation of all accidents, identification of root causes, developing effective programs to prevent reoccurrence, as well as company-wide communication and education on same.

Conducts ongoing analyses of accident trends for the development and implementation of strategies to effectively resolve actual or perceived Safety issues.

Oversees regular monthly meetings and activities for the safety committee at each facility.

Hosts monthly safety review meeting with all plant managers to ensure communication and collaboration on safety initiatives between locations.

Monitors and ensures that current proper personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements for each facility are in place and that employees are following this protocol. Promptly and professionally advises employees who are not utilizing their required PPE to do so and follows up with their supervisor.

Develops and maintains company emergency preparedness plan and collaborates with community organizations (hospital, fire department, etc.), to establish necessary protocols.

Collaborates with upper management in the event of an emergency and chairs emergency communication to managers for chain of command communication thereafter. Following an emergency, collaborates with company leaders to review and make necessary changes for the future.

Works collaboratively with all of Agru America business segments and administrative offices to improve operational efficiencies and reduce health and Safety related risks/costs.

Continuously maintains knowledge of industry safety requirements and training requirements and keeps management abreast of changes and trends.

Attends safety related conferences and industry organization meetings and represents Company with professionalism and diligence.

Any other duties that the Company in its sole discretion may assign as needed.

Maintains active First Aid, AED and CPR, forklift/ industrial truck/overhead instructor and OSHA 30 certifications.

Microsoft office Suite, required.

Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Education And Experience

High School diploma / GED, required.

Associate or bachelor's Degree in employee health and safety, industrial safety or other related area. Degree in Occupational Safety preferred.

3-5 years' safety experience and/or training in an industrial/distribution environment.

Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA regulations, hazard identification and corrections, environmental regulations, and workers compensation.

Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment as a machine operator, utilizing cranes/ industrial lift trucks and/or maintaining equipment, preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to frequently lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds.

This position requires, but is not limited to, standing, walking, utilizing stairs or ladders, driving automatic forklift, climbing, squatting, stooping, twisting, bending, grabbing and grasping.

Must be able to work in a non-controlled environment
