Job summary

Georgia-Pacific's Toledo, OR facility seeks a qualified Safety Specialist to join our team. This role develops, implements, and maintains the site’s safety programs, providing leadership, coaching, training, and development to improve the safety environment and performance across the plant.

The position supports occupational safety improvement efforts, reports to the site Safety & Health Manager, and collaborates with site leadership to identify safety improvements and implement the Path to Zero

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher in Environmental Health and Safety or related field.
• 4+ years of safety leadership/management experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage safety programs and systems with a strong emphasis on hazard identification and risk reduction.
• Lead contractor safety management, machine guarding, ergonomics, and hearing conservation initiatives.
• Design and implement safety programs, compliance strategies, and management systems.
• Deliver regulatory training and raise facility-wide safety awareness.
• Evaluate site safety programs and report on improvement opportunities.
• Support Safety Improvement Plans and Path to Zero strategy.
• Lead and participate in Operational Learning Team sessions focused on Human and Organizational Performance.
