Job summary

Hirenexus in the Greater Chicago Area, IL is seeking a seasoned Safety Manager to lead workplace safety across manufacturing operations. You will develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, ensuring OSHA, EPA, and ANSI compliance while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will oversee audits, training, incident investigations, and the Safety Committee, coordinating with manufacturing and administration to reduce risk and downtime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in safety management in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Valid competency certificates.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and ANSI requirements.
• Conduct safety audits, hazard assessments, and equipment inspections; document findings and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees.
• Investigate and report accidents, injuries, and near-misses; implement corrective actions.
• Maintain compliance with safety legislation and ensure competency certificates remain valid.
• Collaborate with teams and external agencies to address safety issues and promote a safe culture.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation and records including incident reports and training records.
• Lead the Safety Committee and review safety performance and improvements.
• Implement and maintain safety management systems (ISO 45001, OSHA VPP or similar).
