Mountaire Farms is offering an Environmental Health & Safety internship in Millsboro, Delaware. The intern will analyze injury data, evaluate safety programs, and collaborate with Safety, Operations, and Production teams to strengthen workplace safety performance.

The program emphasizes identifying injury trends, competitive recommendations, and hands-on exposure monitoring experience, with travel to Delaware facilities for presentations and seminars.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree (Occupational Safety or related fields preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate safety data, identify trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and utilize Industrial Hygiene monitoring equipment, including sound dosimeters and other exposure monitoring instruments.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated team player committed to workplace safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Use trend analysis to help determine root causes and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university (Pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety or related fields is preferred).
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Must pass the Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check.

Internship Program Requirements
  • Complete assigned project identified by department mentor
  • Attend weekly seminar series across different Mountaire facilities
  • All interns must be available to travel to Delaware during the last week of the program for final presentations (August 2 - 6, 2027)
  • All interns are required to complete a 10 minute presentation on their project at the conclusion of summer. Presentations will take place in Millsboro, DE at the Administrative Building during the week of August 2-6.
  • All interns must complete a mid-way evaluation (week 5) along with a final evaluation (week 10)
  • Anticipated weekly schedule for this internship is M-F, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
