Job summary

APTIM seeks a mid-level Safety and Industrial Hygiene Professional to lead health and safety programs within a multidisciplinary R&D laboratory environment in the Seattle area. The role involves independent technical work, day-to-day guidance to lab personnel, and mentoring a junior IH professional.

You will perform IH assessments, sampling, and write technical reports, advise on controls, and ensure OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, safety, environmental health, public health, chemistry, biology or closely related field.
8-12 years of relevant safety, industrial hygiene, laboratory, research experience.
Experience supporting R&D laboratories, biotech, or other technically complex environments.
Knowledge of occupational safety and laboratory chemical hazards.
Experience with industrial hygiene sampling methods and monitoring equipment.
Ability to wear PPE and work safely in lab settings.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day laboratory safety and industrial hygiene support, including inspections and risk assessments.
Evaluate R&D activities and recommend control measures (engineering, admin, PPE).
Plan IH assessments and sampling; prepare technical reports.
Support exposure assessments, air monitoring, hazard evaluations, and regulatory compliance.
Update SOPs, JHA, inspection checklists, and emergency procedures.
Mentor junior IH professionals and ensure OSHA compliance.
