Job summary

APTIM seeks a Junior Safety and Industrial Hygiene Specialist to support health and safety programs in a multidisciplinary R&D lab environment. You will work under Senior EH&S and technicians to evaluate hazards, implement controls, and promote a strong safety culture.

The role involves IH exposure assessments, air monitoring, hazard evaluations, and training across chemical, laser, lithium-battery, and biosafety aspects, with onsite duties in the greater Seattle area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 1–3 years of safety, industrial hygiene, laboratory or research experience.
• Foundational knowledge of occupational safety and laboratory chemical hazards.
• Experience with industrial hygiene sampling methods and monitoring equipment.
• Ability to wear PPE and work safely in lab, testing, and equipment areas.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (MS Excel, Word, SharePoint Online).

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine laboratory inspections and help document unsafe conditions.
• Assist with exposure assessments, air monitoring, risk assessments, hazard evaluations, and regulatory support.
• Support lab safety procedures and hazard communication program.
• Evaluate environments for chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
• Assist with chemical inventories, SDS, labeling, storage, and hazardous-material tracking.
• Maintain SOPs, JHAs, inspection checklists, training materials, and emergency procedures.
• Deliver or coordinate training on lab safety, chemical handling, PPE, lasers, batteries, and emergencies.
• Maintain EHS records including inspections, trainings, and corrective actions.
