Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) offers internship and co‑op opportunities for students to gain hands‑on experience in health, safety, and environmental hygiene across multiple units. Interns work with experienced professionals on projects in refining and logistics, gaining exposure to HES&S subject areas.

Qualified candidates are enrolled in a Bachelor’s program, can work on site full-time, and must be able to travel as needed. Multiple terms are preferred, with hourly pay between.

Qualifications

• Strong academic performance.
• Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
• Must be able to safely ascend/descend stairs or ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must have valid driver’s license for work travel.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support health, safety and security planning and compliance activities.
• Assist in facility audits, training programs, industrial hygiene, and equipment maintenance.
• Participate in health, safety, and security projects and incident investigations.
• Assist with emergency preparedness and response, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
• Liaise with Marathon business units as needed; may contribute to written reports.
