Job summary

Nucor Buildings Group is seeking a Safety & Health Coordinator to enhance and sustain safety and health across the Waterloo division. You will collaborate with multiple departments, coordinate safety programs, and lead data reporting, training, and incident analysis.

The role requires manufacturing experience, ability to work overtime, and certifications in emergency response and mental health first aid. A strong safety culture and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work overtime when required.
  • Ability to gain and maintain Emergency Medical Responder Certification.
  • Ability to gain and maintain Mental Health First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional support to improve and sustain the safety and health of all teammates.
  • Adhere to Nucor safety programs and standards.
  • Support division safety performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate and deliver division safety training and culture-building activities.
  • Maintain safety data, KPI statistics, training, and records.
  • Address on-call and after-hours safety needs and incidents.

Basic Job Functions:

The Safety & Health Coordinator will provide professional support to improve and sustain the safety & health of all teammates. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Must adhere to Nucor's safety programs and standards.
  • Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor's vision and values.
  • Support division safety performance, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety, occupational health, and environmental regulations, including OSHA.
  • Support division with all aspects of field/shop safety teams and programs.
  • Collaborate across departments on safety projects, initiatives, and analysis.
  • Maintain and report safety data – KPI statistics, training, compliance records, confidential records, safety management system, etc.
  • Be available to address and participate in on-call and/or after-hours onsite safety needs.
  • Assist in and/or oversee the incident analysis and root cause analysis program.
  • Assist in coordination of the contractor safety program, requirements, and monitor performance.
  • Coordinate, schedule, track, update, and/or deliver division safety training and culture-building activities, including onboarding and annual training.
  • Analyze compliance, inspections, and auditing of safety efforts.
  • Develop, maintain, and evaluate job safety analyses and procedures.
  • Coordinate the onsite Emergency Response program and routine audits.
  • Communicate safety information (flyers, alerts, presentations, etc.).
  • Assist with planning and coordinating division activities and events.
  • Maintain the department webpage, dashboards, and online safety platforms.
  • Participate in and lead the division in regional and product group safety initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Support Supervisor.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work overtime when required.
  • Ability to gain and maintain Emergency Medical Responder Certification.
  • Ability to gain and maintain Mental Health First Aid Certification.
