Job summary

River Metals Recycling LLC is seeking a hands-on Mechanic in Ashland, KY to maintain and repair industrial mobile equipment ensuring safe, reliable operations. You will troubleshoot issues, perform preventive maintenance, and keep detailed service records in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include replacing worn parts, using hand and power tools, and coordinating with accounting software support for issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand technical documents, diagrams, and service manuals.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced team with attention to detail.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot the root cause of equipment failures.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Able to stand for extended periods in an industrial environment.
• Perform physical activities including pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, and kneeling.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic repairs including hydraulic lines, O-rings, and filters.

• Keep a clean, safe work area and follow safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate service records.

What You'll Do

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial mobile equipment to support safe, reliable operations. This role involves troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs, and parts replacement using hand and power tools, while maintaining accurate service records and a clean, safe work area.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

• Repair and maintain industrial mobile equipment using hand and power tools, lift trucks, and maintenance cranes when available.
• Move, operate, assemble, and dismantle machinery as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and repair or replace worn or broken parts.
• Perform basic repairs and maintenance, including replacing hydraulic lines, O-rings, and filters that support engine operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot breakdowns to keep equipment operating safely and reliably.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow all safety regulations.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of services and repairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Work directly with transaction accounting software support to resolve issues that cannot be corrected internally.

What We're Looking For

• Ability to identify and troubleshoot the root cause of equipment failures.
• Ability to work overtime as needed, including outside the normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notice.
• Ability to stand for extended periods in an industrial environment and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physical activities including pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, and kneeling.

Preferred:

• CPA and/or Advanced Business degree
• Manufacturing experience
