Job summary

You will work with pot carriers, oversee de-skulling, manage quenching pits, and maintain high safety and teamwork standards; candidates need a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and a willingness to work in a steel mill (vocational training preferred).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Willingness to work in a steel mill environment.
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial settings preferred but not required.
• Vocational training as a Hot Pit Loader is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate loaders during slag pit digging, quenching, and maintenance activities.
• Perform pre-shift equipment inspections and 360-degree walk-around inspections.
• Inspect pits for grading, dryness, and berms; maintain safety equipment.
• Coordinate with pot carriers, control dumping, and oversee de-skulling.
• Load haul trucks safely and monitor for water intrusion with abatement as needed.
• Maintain three points of contact when entering/exiting the loader.
• Activate fire suppression if needed; uphold OSHA and company safety programs.
• Perform other duties to support team operations.
