Job summary

Phoenix Global in Ghent, KY seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate loaders during slag pit digging, quenching, and maintenance. You will perform pre-shift inspections and follow safety protocols, coordinating with pot carriers to control dumping while supporting production with teamwork.

Required: high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, willingness to work in a steel mill; experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site heavy equipment operations which involves positioning and moving front loaders, haul trucks, and skid loaders.
• Loading, extracting and transporting materials including molten steel.
• Handling components, modules and systems of heavy equipment.
• Converting heavy equipment with various mobile accessories.
• Observing relevant safety, accident prevention, and environmental regulations.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor, clean equipment.
• Maintain and protect all property.
• Maintain all required certifications required by OSHA and company safety programs.
• Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.
