Safety Field Administrator - Contract to Hire

This role is very physical—the candidate has to be able to climb stairs, walk extensively over uneven terrain, work in cold weather, and work overtime as needed. Who We’re Looking For

We’re searching for a self-starter who dives into challenges, anticipates needs, and delivers results with precision. You’re organized, communicative, and adept at managing safety data, conducting orientations, and providing on-site support while building strong relationships with team members, subcontractors, and craft workers. Bilingual in Spanish and English (fluent speaker) is required.

What You’ll Do

The Safety Field Administrator plays a key role in assisting and collaborating with experienced Safety Professionals in implementing and maintaining safety programs and procedures on construction sites. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain practical safety experience within a dynamic commercial construction environment.

Pay Range: $20–$28 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (overtime eligible).

  • Utilize strong computer skills to manage safety-related data, records, and reports. Ensure accuracy and timeliness in updating safety databases and generating necessary reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct new-hire orientations, including speaking in front of groups.
  • Proactively communicate safety and loss control policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the substance abuse program.
  • Provide information for weekly safety meetings.
  • Provide on-site field support to employees and safety personnel.
  • Assist the Safety team with hazard assessments in the field.
  • Assist with Accident/incident investigations, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate with, manage, and monitor subcontractors’ safety on a project.
  • Assist with trainings such as respirator training, forklift operation, and fall protection.
Typical field safety duties:
  • Audits (PTPs, Equipment inspections, NEHW permits).
  • Being a presence in the field and serving as a resource.
Hazardous materials and inventory tracking tasks (e.g., chemicals, fuels):
  • Submit forms to get materials approved for use on site.
  • Conduct a weekly inventory of materials in use.
  • Conduct a weekly inventory of materials in storage.
  • Track locations of material storage containers/areas.
  • Maintain proper signage on all material storage areas.
  • Ensure current Safety Data Sheets (SDS) or equivalent are maintained and located in proper areas.
  • Conduct worksite audits for proper material use (ensure all crews understand the SDS/hazards for materials they are using).
Additional support tasks:
  • Assisting with new hire paperwork and training documentation.
  • Assisting with jobsite weekly requirements (site admin): Updating cover sheet, Incident summary, Scanning all PTPs, Scanning field inspections, Scanning in toolbox talks.
  • Assisting with field paperwork binders and file folders (ensuring crews have the necessary paperwork and do not run out to slow down work).
  • Assisting with normal safety audits.
  • Assisting with PPE inventory (Fall protection, Spill kits, Standard PPE).
  • Submitting quarterly logs (Chainfall, Rigging, Fall pro, Assured grounding, Fire Extinguisher) – may be overseen by another team.
What You Bring
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in safety support or safety administration is highly preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent certification. Proficiency in MS Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Able to work in cold or hot climates and climb stairs and ladders daily. Willingness to learn state and federal regulations as they apply to job site safety. Willingness to continuously learn and improve safety knowledge and skills through training and development opportunities. A genuine interest in safety practices and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Mindset: Organized, proactive, and able to adapt under pressure. A self-starter who builds relationships and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requirements: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. Bilingual in Spanish and English (fluent speaker).
Physical Requirements

This role requires extensive time working on active construction jobsites and the physical ability to perform field-related tasks daily. The individual must be capable of frequent walking over uneven terrain, standing for extended periods, and regularly climbing stairs and ladders. Additional requirements include kneeling, crouching, crawling to inspect tight spaces, and lifting/carrying materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. The position involves transitioning between office and field environments. Office duties require sitting for extended periods at a computer, performing repetitive tasks (typing, mouse use), and telephone communication. Field duties require adaptability to outdoor work in various weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.), adherence to site-specific dress codes, and consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.

Good vision and hearing are essential for reading plans, conducting inspections, and communicating effectively on noisy jobsites. Flexibility to travel between job sites and work outside regular business hours is required.
