Job summary

Versant Power in Bangor, ME is seeking a Manager, Safety & Environmental to lead the company’s safety and environmental programs and advance a culture of safety first. The role partners with SLT, EST, and operations to implement the Safety Strategy and Five-Year Plan.

The candidate will oversee EHS management systems, regulatory compliance, and training, driving improvements to protect employees, contractors, customers and the public. Strong leadership and regulatory expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or Environmental field or related technical discipline.
• Minimum of five years of experience in occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

• Establish, implement, monitor, and continually improve the safety strategy and five-year safety plan.
• Lead and manage safety, environmental, occupational health, and contractor safety programs, aligning with business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, DOT, DEP, MPUC and other regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement safety training programs and oversee incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Monitor safety and environmental performance metrics and report to leadership.
