Job summary

Altec Industries, Inc. in St. Joseph, MO, invites applications for a Safety/Environmental Intern/Co-Op for January–June 2027, at the Altec Midwest Facility. The program offers furnished housing and a competitive hourly wage.

The internship focuses on safety training, environmental compliance, and hands-on projects within lean manufacturing settings, with opportunities to participate in JSA development, incident investigations, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree is required.
• Preferred majors include Safety Management, Environmental Management, or Risk Management.

Responsibilities

• Conducts safety and environmental training and education programs, and demonstrates the use of safety equipment
• Conducts Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s)
• Participate in RCI events related to safety and environmental
• Inspects and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
• Assists in completing regulatory reports for EPA and OSHA compliance
• Assists in incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions
• Assists in maintaining and updating emergency response plans and procedures
• Participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives and take part in Kaizen activities
• Other projects and assignments as needed
