Job summary

Altec Industries, Inc. in St. Joseph, MO, seeks a Safety/Environmental Intern/Co-Op for a January–June 2027 semester. The position offers furnished housing and hands-on exposure to safety and environmental compliance in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities include safety training, JSA, regulatory reporting to EPA/OSHA, incident investigations, and Lean/Kaisen initiatives. This paid internship supports growth in safety and environmental disciplines within Altec.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree required.
• Majors preferred: Safety Management, Environmental Management, Risk Management.

Responsibilities

• Conducts safety and environmental training and education programs, and demonstrates the use of safety equipment
• Conducts Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s)
• Participate in RCI events related to safety and environmental
• Inspects and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
• Assists in completing regulatory reports for EPA and OSHA compliance
• Assists in incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions
• Assists in maintaining and updating emergency response plans and procedures
• Participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives and take part in Kaizen activities
• Other projects and assignments as needed
