Job summary

General Atomics is seeking a Safety Engineer to provide safety engineering in a complex manufacturing environment and to help develop safe work procedures and training. You will ensure OSHA compliance, maintain records, and coordinate inspections including with remote facilities.

The role emphasizes incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and delivering department-specific trainings on hazards, materials handling, PPE, and emergency procedures. Travel to multiple sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial hygiene, occupational safety or a related field.
  • Two or more years of progressively complex experience in safety engineering.
  • Demonstrates understanding of industrial hygiene and OSHA principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety engineering in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Develop safe work procedures and environmental training.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance and maintain required records.
  • Coordinate inspections with OSHA or other agencies and liaise with remote facilities.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses; perform root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
  • Deliver targeted safety training across departments (ergonomics, hazardous materials, PPE, emergency procedures).
  • Support health and safety program development and site safety manuals.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections and report injuries and fatalities.
