Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Safety Supervisor to oversee safety performance for Operations personnel in a shipyard setting in Newport News, VA. You will coordinate injury reviews, train staff, and drive corrective actions to reduce safety risks.

Qualifications

  • BS/Apprentice with 4+ years supervisory experience, or non-BS with 6+ years supervisory/CS experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety Manual, Shipyard Standards and Operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and training skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement training programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Power BI and Observe NNS knowledge.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coordinate, and evaluate all injuries and near misses of Operations personnel associated with the assigned program/Area of Responsibility.
  • Train hourly and salaried employees on best-practice safety performance.
  • Recommend and implement targeted training, corrective actions, and preventive measures to control, reduce, or eliminate safety issues.
  • Assist in developing and enhancing training procedures, tooling, and resources that improve employee safety performance and productivity.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to analyze safety data.
  • Strategize practical action plans and drive deck-plate safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance with technical safety requirements, the shipyard Health and Safety Manual, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Shape safety culture across the shipyard and implement innovative training solutions.
