Miller Electric Company in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Temporary Safety Coordinator to oversee site safety, enforce OSHA standards, and support field personnel in daily safety program execution across active projects.

Ideal candidates will hold BCSP STS-C or OSHA 30, have NFPA 70E/LOTO experience, strong technical writing, and the ability to train groups of 25–30, coordinate with management, conduct risk assessments, and help maintain a safe workplace for a 3–6 month assignment.

Qualifications

• BCSP STS-C certification or higher
• OSHA 30 certification
• First Aid, Narcan, Bloodborne Pathogens, CPR, and AED training
• NFPA 70E and LOTO experience
• Understanding of Workers' Compensation
• Strong technical writing ability
• A collaborative approach to safety improvements
• Ability to train groups of 25-30

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Provide technical guidance for eliminating or controlling hazards.
• Plan and conduct periodic and unscheduled safety surveys and inspections.
• Conduct hazard analyses of project operations
• Assist in updating and maintaining the safety manual
• Develop risk assessments and Job Task Analyses
• Coordinate safety training with operating activities and site leadership
• Ensure safe placement and job assignment of personnel
• Assist in accident record keeping and investigations
• Foster a team environment for safety corrections
• Perform other duties as assigned

Job Summary

Miller Electric Company has an immediate need for Temporary Safety Coordinators in Charlotte, NC (3-6 months).

Ideal candidate would have prior experience working for an electrical contractor or a minimum of 5 years in construction safety.

Requirements & Responsibilities

The Safety Coordinator reports to the Site Safety Manager. Responsibilities are focused on maintaining the safest possible workplace and OSHA Compliance. This role will be hands-on and interact with our field personnel and management team daily assisting with safety program execution, field supervision, training, safety administration, case/care management.

• Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, standards, policies, and/or procedures.


• Provides technical expertise to managers and supervisors in establishing techniques and procedures for the elimination or control of unsafe behaviors, environments, and hazards.


• Plans and conducts periodic and unscheduled surveys and inspections of Miller Electric Company projects.


• Conduct hazard analyses of project operations


• Assist in the update and maintenance of the company safety manual


• Develop and conduct risk assessments and Job Task Analyses for relevant tasks


• Coordinates with operating activities to provide safety training and ensures safety awareness throughout Miller Electric Company.


• Work with personnel to assure safe placement and job assignment


• Assist in the maintenance of accident record keeping


• Provide technical assistance with the investigation of accidents, incidents, injuries, and/or illnesses.


• Foster a team environment when advising on needed corrections


• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• BCSP certification STS-C (Safety Trained Supervisor or higher)


• OSHA 30 certification


• First Aid, Narcan, Bloodborne Pathogens, CPR, and AED training


• NFPA 70E and LOTO experience


• Understanding of Workers' Compensation


• Strong technical writing ability


• A strong supporter of collaboration in an effort to gather the best solutions


• Ability to address and train groups of 25-30


• Ability to adapt to a changing work environment


• Ability to act independently with minimal daily direction


• Ability to work closely with all levels of Miller Electric Company


• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position.

Preferred

• Bi-Lingual (English and Spanish)


• Certified OSHA Outreach Trainer for the Construction Industry (preferred)


• Proficient in Microsoft 365
