Job summary

Environmental Air Systems, LLC is seeking a Safety Coordinator to promote and enforce a safe working environment on construction sites. You will lead safety programs, conduct site inspections, and train workers on procedures to reduce risks.

You will collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and crews to maintain OSHA compliance, manage PPE, and prepare safety reports. This role is on-site with ongoing safety culture promotion.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2–4 years construction safety experience.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification required.
  • OSHA 510 required.
  • STSC required.
  • Competent Person Training (Fall Protection/Excavations) required.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety programs, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety protocols.
  • Conduct daily and weekly safety inspections of construction sites, identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
  • Provide safety training for workers and subcontractors, including orientation, toolbox talks, and specialized safety training (e.g., fall protection, PPE use, hazard communication).
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents to identify root causes and prepare incident reports with corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory safety standards and prepare for third-party audits; maintain records of safety training and inspections.
  • Monitor PPE usage and oversee PPE distribution/maintenance.
  • Assist in development and execution of emergency response plans (first aid, fire safety, evacuation).
  • Maintain detailed safety records and prepare regular safety reports for management and clients.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture on-site by engaging workers in safety discussions and real-time issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and workers to integrate safety measures into daily operations.

Job description

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting and ensuring a safe working environment on construction sites. The Safety Coordinator will collaborate closely with project managers, supervisors, and workers to mitigate risks and maintain a culture of safety throughout the construction project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Safety Program Implementation
  • Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety programs, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety protocols.
Site Safety Inspections
  • Conduct daily and weekly safety inspections of construction sites, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions. Monitor construction activities to ensure safety regulations are being followed.
Training & Education
  • Provide safety training for workers and subcontractors, including orientation, toolbox talks, and specialized safety training (e.g., fall protection, PPE use, hazard communication).
Incident Reporting & Investigation
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents to identify root causes. Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Safety Audits & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory safety standards (OSHA, state regulations, etc.) and prepare for third-party audits. Maintain records of safety training, inspections, and compliance activities.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management
  • Monitor and ensure that all workers are using the correct personal protective equipment for the specific hazards of their tasks. Oversee the distribution and maintenance of PPE.
Emergency Response Plans
  • Assist in the development and execution of emergency response plans, including first aid, fire safety, and evacuation procedures.
Safety Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, training, accident reports, and safety meetings. Prepare regular safety reports for management and clients.
Safety Culture Promotion
  • Foster a proactive safety culture on-site by engaging workers in safety discussions, promoting safe work practices, and addressing safety concerns promptly.
Collaborative Communication
  • Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and workers to integrate safety measures into day-to-day operations and resolve safety issues as they arise.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in safety management, construction management, or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in construction safety or a related field. Proven experience implementing safety programs and conducting safety training on construction sites.
Certifications
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification (required).
  • OSHA 510 (Required)
  • STSC (Required)
  • Competent Person Training (Fall Protection and Excavations) (Required)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification (preferred).
  • Additional safety certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP)) are a plus.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other construction safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and engage workers at all levels.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk, stand, and work for extended periods of time in all weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate construction site terrain. Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety goggles, and gloves.
Work Environment
  • This position is primarily on-site at construction locations. Occasional office work may be required for report preparation and training sessions. Exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and construction site hazards is common.
