Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. is seeking a Safety Coordinator to coordinate, facilitate, and supervise our facility's safety programs and initiatives. You will inspect operations, investigate incidents, and develop programs with management to improve safety.

The role includes training, chairing the Safety Committee, and maintaining safety records. Ideal candidates possess a high school diploma with 0–2 years in safety or woodworking operations, and familiarity with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school graduate.
• Minimum zero to two years of experience in safety or woodworking operations.
• Proficiency with computer and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Preferred First Aid and CPR; knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Regularly inspects facility operations to ensure safe practices and proper use of PPE and guards.
• Investigates accidents and near-misses; identifies trends and implements corrective actions.
• Develops safety programs and incentives with management.
• Conducts new hire safety training and ensures understanding of safety policies.
• Trains employees on safe operation of machinery and equipment.
• Chairs the Safety Committee.
• Maintains first aid/CPR readiness and safety supplies inventory.
• Conducts forklift training certification.
• Coordinates annual and other safety/regulatory inspections.
• Monitors hearing conservation program.
• Coordinates medical restriction work duties.
• Maintains communication with management, HR, and third-party claims administrators.
• Maintains OSHA 300 log and required reports.
• Prepares regular and special safety reports.
• Performs other duties as required.

Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and supervision of the facility's safety programs and initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Regularly inspects facility operations to ensure that safe job practices are followed, protective equipment is properly utilized, and all required machine/process guards are in place and operational


• Investigates and facilitate the investigation of all accidents and near-miss occurrences identify trends and causes and ensures that corrective measures are implemented


• Works with management to develop safety programs and incentives as appropriate


• Conducts new hire training and ensures new employees understand safety practices and policies


• Provides training to employees on the safe and appropriate operation of machinery and equipment


• Chairs the Safety Committee


• Ensures the facility maintains the proper number of personnel trained in first aid and CPR and that the required level of safety and medical supplies are maintained in inventory


• Conducts and certifies all forklift training


• Coordinates annual fire inspection tours and planned/unplanned tours by other safety and health regulatory agencies


• Monitors facility hearing conservation program


• Coordinates work duties for employees on medical restrictions


• Maintains appropriate communication with immediate management, Human Resources, and third-party claims administrators


• Maintains OSHA 300 log and other required reports


• Prepares regular and special reports as required


• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

• Minimum high school graduate


• Minimum zero to two years of experience in safety or woodworking operations


• Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications Excel, Word and Outlook


• Preferred experience in First Aid and CPR and working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations

Compensation & Benefit Information: 20-30 Hourly dependent on experience*
