Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. seeks a Safety Coordinator to lead the facility's safety programs and ensure safe operation of all processes. You will inspect operations, facilitate accident investigations, and maintain comprehensive safety records.

The role includes leading safety training, chairing the Safety Committee, managing OSHA reporting, and coordinating regulator inspections. A high school diploma is required; CPR/First Aid and OSHA knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school graduate; safety experience preferred.
  • Hands-on safety program knowledge and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspects facility operations to ensure safe practices and guards are in place.
  • Investigates accidents and near-misses, identifies trends, and ensures corrective actions.
  • Coordinates safety training, chairs the Safety Committee, and maintains safety records.
  • Maintains OSHA 300 log and prepares required reports.

Job SummaryThe Safety Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and supervision of the facility's safety programs and initiatives.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesRegularly inspects facility operations to ensure that safe job practices are followed, protective equipment is properly utilized, and all required machine/process guards are in place and operationalInvestigates and facilitate the investigation of all accidents and near-miss occurrences identify trends and causes and ensures that corrective measures are implementedWorks with management to develop safety programs and incentives as appropriateConducts new hire training and ensures new employees understand safety practices and policiesProvides training to employees on the safe and appropriate operation of machinery and equipmentChairs the Safety CommitteeEnsures the facility maintains the proper number of personnel trained in first aid and CPR and that the required level of safety and medical supplies are maintained in inventoryConducts and certifies all forklift trainingCoordinates annual fire inspection tours and planned/unplanned tours by other safety and health regulatory agenciesMonitors facility hearing conservation programCoordinates work duties for employees on medical restrictionsMaintains appropriate communication with immediate management, Human Resources, and third-party claims administratorsMaintains OSHA 300 log and other required reportsPrepares regular and special reports as requiredPerforms other duties as requiredQualificationsMinimum high school graduateMinimum zero to two years of experience in safety or woodworking operationsWorking knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications Excel, Word and OutlookPreferred experience in First Aid and CPR and working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulationsBenefits currently offered to our employees:Medical insuranceHealth savings account with company contributionDental insuranceVision insuranceBasic and voluntary life insuranceDisability insurance401(k) plan with company matchPaid vacation and holidaysStock purchase program with employee discountEducational reimbursementWellness programs and challengesOther supplemental benefitsThe Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
