Job summary

ALLNEX is seeking a Safety Coordinator in Wallingford, CT to strengthen our safety culture by partnering with employees, leaders, and contractors to drive proactive risk management and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on safety professional with strong leadership and communication skills, dedicated to protecting people and promoting operational excellence in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety, environmental, or health management and compliance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong planning, organizational and follow up skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
  • Excellent people and process management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate safety regulations, including OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and deliver safety programs, training, and annual safety initiatives.
  • Lead Process Safety Management activities (PHA, PSSR, hazard assessments) and preventive controls.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and reviews to identify hazards and promote safe practices.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, and property damage and drive improvements.
  • Coordinate occupational health, workers’ compensation, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, noise monitoring, respiratory protection, asbestos management, and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Manage site security, access controls, emergency procedures, fire department coordination, contractor safety, and equipment inspections.
  • Oversee safety permits, contractor compliance, training, procurement of safety supplies, and support SHE with waste management policies.

Position overview

This position is responsible for supporting and strengthening the site's safety culture by partnering with employees, leaders, and contractors to drive proactive risk management, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on safety professional with strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills who is passionate about protecting people, promoting operational excellence, and ensuring a safe working environment for all.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and corporate safety regulations, standards, and reporting requirements, including OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and deliver safety programs, employee training, new hire orientation, and required annual safety initiatives.
  • Lead and support Process Safety Management activities such as Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), hazard assessments, and the implementation of corrective and preventive controls.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and compliance reviews to identify hazardous conditions, promote safe work practices, and provide regulatory guidance.
  • Investigate, analyze, and report incidents, injuries, and property damage, while monitoring the effectiveness of safety programs and recommending continuous improvements.
  • Coordinate occupational health, workers’ compensation, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, noise monitoring, respiratory protection, asbestos management and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Manage site security systems, security access controls, emergency procedures, fire department coordination, contractor safety performance, and emergency equipment inspections.
  • Oversee safety permits, contractor compliance, required safety training, procurement of safety supplies and equipment, and support SHE department with waste management activities, policy and procedure development.
Required skills and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety, environmental, or health management and compliance within a manufacturing environment.
