Description
Kodiak Roofing & Waterproofing, LLCis seeking an experienced, hands-on Safety Coordinator to support our Safety Department and field operations. This position works closely with the Safety Manager, field leadership, and employees to promote a strong safety culture, identify and correct hazards, maintain regulatory compliance, and help ensure our employees go home safely every day.
This is a highly visible, field-focused position requiring regular interaction with our English- and Spanish-speaking workforce. The ideal candidate is proactive, confident in the field, and comfortable providing coaching, training, and corrective guidance to employees and supervisors.

What You'll Do
- Conduct and document jobsite and facility safety inspections and audits.
- Identify unsafe conditions and work practices and partner with field leadership to ensure timely corrective action.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA requirements, Company safety policies, and jobsite-specific safety requirements.
- Conduct jobsite quality control and safety equipment inspections.
- Remove defective or damaged safety equipment from service when necessary.
- Deliver safety training and maintain accurate and timely training documentation.
- Conduct new employee safety orientations in both English and Spanish.
- Provide field coaching and safety guidance to employees, Foremen, Superintendents, and other operational leaders.
- Coordinate workplace injury response, documentation, and reporting procedures.
- Assist with incident investigations and follow-up corrective actions.
- Stay current on applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Assist with the development and continuous improvement of Company safety programs, procedures, and training.
- Partner with Human Resources and Operations to ensure safety policy violations are addressed and documented fairly and consistently.
- Maintain required safety certifications and participate in continuing education and Train-the-Trainer programs.
What We're Looking For
- Current Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to effectively communicate, coach, and provide safety training in both languages.
- Seeking 10+ years of related construction safety experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of OSHA construction safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Experience conducting jobsite inspections, identifying hazards, and recommending or implementing corrective actions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both field employees and management.
- Ability to deliver safety training and communicate requirements clearly to individuals and groups.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to use standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office and web-based systems.
- Ability to travel to and work at active construction jobsites as required.
Certifications
In addition to the required CHST certification, candidates should possess or be willing to obtain and maintain applicable certifications and competent-person/trainer qualifications, including:
- OSHA 510
- CPR/First Aid Trainer
- Aerial Lift Trainer
- Crane Signal Person and Rigger – Level 1
- Fall Protection Competent Person
- Scaffold Competent Person
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position regularly works in active construction environments and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The Safety Coordinator must be comfortable walking active jobsites and working around construction operations, equipment, and elevated work areas.
The position may require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; working at significant heights and steep grades; and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
