This position requires the ability to produce professional safety documentation, identify, mitigate, and teach co-workers about risk, and implement measures to reduce, eliminate, and sustain safety in the workplace.
Responsibilities
- Conduct onboarding and new hire safety training.
- Ensure compliance with monthly safety training requirements.
- Oversee certifications for hoists and mobile equipment; ensure operators' licenses are current.
- Perform root cause analyses (RCA) on safety incidents, injuries, near misses, and first aid cases.
- Lead the safety committee and facilitate weekly/monthly safety audits within the factory.
- Manage fire extinguisher maintenance and conduct inspections of tools, equipment, hoists, and slings.
- Complete safety-related administrative duties and ensure facility compliance with codes.
- Lead safety culture change initiatives and support safety programs, audits, and committee activities.
- Set professional standards in safety and environmental compliance.
- Identify opportunities to enhance profitability through safety best practices.
- Support operational goals by proposing hazard reduction strategies.
- Maintain high customer service standards related to safety targets.
- Lead corrective actions to address safety issues, ensuring their effectiveness.
- Assist manufacturing employees by removing obstacles, preventing production stoppages while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
- Model safe work practices by wearing all required safety equipment and adhering to regulations.
- Audit EH&S processes to ensure compliance and facilitate knowledge transfer to staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies or a related field.
- Experience with EH&S data management systems; Dakota software experience preferred.
- 2-5 years of professional safety experience in a dynamic safety environment.
- Related mechanical experience is a plus.
- Positive attitude and cooperative approach towards team members and stakeholders.
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and safety focus.
- Professional conduct and language at all times.
- Ability to learn and support other operational areas as needed.
- Strong management and supervisory skills.
- Extensive knowledge of security protocols, emergency preparedness, OSHA standards, and safety policies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and training skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Advanced safety or security certifications are preferred.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and travel within the facility for inspections.
