Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for enforcing safety programs to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. This role plays a vital part in risk assessment, accident prevention strategies, and maintaining a safe workplace environment. Serves as a primary liaison between employees and management regarding safety-related issues. Conducts safety training.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Visit job sites, and conduct regular safety audits and inspections- travel up to 50%


Stop operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment


Collaborate with EHS Manager to investigate incidents and accidents to identify root causes


Coordinate safety drills and emergency response plans


Submit recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program


including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management


Collaborate with EHS Manager to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures


Prepare and maintain safety documentation and reports


Review current safety training and recommend revisions, improvements, and updates


Provide safety training to employees, both in-office and on-site


Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules


Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems


Share environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization


Promote a safety culture within the organization


Serve as a point of contact for safety concerns and inquiries


Must participate and successfully complete all training as required by the company.


Performs other duties as assigned.


High School Diploma required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field preferred. Certification from a recognized safety program preferred (e.g. CSP, CHST).


Minimum 3 years previous experience in EHS and a strong electrical background required. OSHA 30 and CPR certifications required.


Extensive knowledge of: security protocols, emergency preparedness, hazard identification, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to conduct effective training sessions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with various teams. Ability to handle stressful situations and prioritize tasks.
