Auto Driveaway in Lombard, IL is seeking a detail‑oriented Safety Coordinator to audit driver Hours of Service (HOS) logs for our VT and TT divisions, ensuring compliance with FMCSA regulations and company safety standards. The role emphasizes meticulous record review, coaching on proper logging practices, and maintaining DQ files in support of ongoing safety initiatives and reporting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Audit driver Hours of Service (HOS) logs daily for FMCSA compliance and safety standards.
• Review and reconcile electronic and paper logs with supporting records to identify HOS violations and discrepancies.
• Document audit findings and escalate safety concerns to Safety and Operations leadership; follow up on corrective actions.
• Coach drivers on proper logging practices and HOS requirements; maintain audit records and safety metrics.
• Build positive working relationships with drivers and dispatchers to support a strong safety culture.
• Collaborate with safety team to develop and implement continuous improvement processes across units.
• Track and maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files and support other safety duties as needed.

About the Role

Looking for the chance to make an impact as a key part of a dedicated, diverse, and growing company? Auto Driveaway is seeking a detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to join our team in Lombard, IL. This person's primary focus will be auditing driver Hours of Service (HOS) logs for our Vehicle Transport (VT) and Truck Transport (TT) divisions, helping keep our drivers safe and our operations compliant with FMCSA regulations.

This role is a great fit for someone who is organized, enjoys digging into the details, and is comfortable working with drivers and dispatchers every day. You'll partner closely with our Safety and Operations teams and play a direct part in building a strong safety culture across the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Primary responsibility: Audit driver Hours of Service (HOS) logs daily to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with FMCSA regulations and Auto Driveaway safety standards.
• Review and reconcile electronic and paper logs with supporting records to identify HOS violations, missing information, discrepancies, and potential fatigue concerns.
• Document audit findings, promptly elevate safety concerns to Safety and Operations leadership, and follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Coach drivers on proper logging practices and HOS requirements, address recurring issues, and maintain audit records and compliance metrics for safety reporting.
• Build positive working relationships with drivers and dispatchers to support a strong safety culture.
• Partner with other members of the safety team to develop and implement continuous improvement processes and procedures across all business units.
• Track and maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files and support other administrative and clerical safety duties as needed.

Requirements

• Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Valid driver's license and clean MVR

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience auditing HOS logs or working in DOT/FMCSA safety and compliance
• Familiarity with ELD systems and HOS rules
• Experience in transportation, trucking, or logistics
• Administrative or clerical experience, including maintaining DQ files
