What You Will Contribute To OHM Advisors

As our experienced Safety Coordinator, you will be instrumental in fostering a proactive safety culture across OHM Advisors. You will directly contribute to the safety and well-being of our 750+ professionals by implementing and managing comprehensive safety programs, ultimately ensuring safer project sites and a healthier work environment that supports our mission of Advancing Communities.

Your Responsibilities

Cultivating a Proactive Safety Culture:

  • Develop and implement engaging safety awareness campaigns (e.g., toolbox talks, safety moments) to promote a culture of prevention.
  • Lead the annual review and update of the company safety manual to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Design, deliver, and manage comprehensive safety training programs, leveraging our Learning Management System (LMS) for efficient deployment and tracking.
  • Serve as a key point of contact and provide guidance to Safety Champions across all locations, empowering them to drive local safety initiatives.
  • Travel regularly (up to 40% of time) to build strong relationships with local leadership and staff, fostering a collaborative safety network company wide.


Ensuring Compliance and Mitigating Risks:

  • Maintain meticulous safety documentation and records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of office and project sites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Actively participate in and support thorough investigations of incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure effective and up-to-date safety signage and communication are in place across all locations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of safety training through feedback mechanisms, assessments, and key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate the procurement and distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) company-wide, working closely with regional contacts.
  • Track and analyze incident reports and safety metrics to identify trends and provide data for bid submissions and internal reporting.
  • Maintain and update the company's internal safety information page, ensuring it is a valuable resource for all employees.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of project sites and develop mitigation strategies to prevent accidents and injuries.


Requirements

Education, Experience & Licensure:

  • Bachelor's degree or better.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a safety position.


Technical Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of necessary software products and ability to learn and adapt to new technology and advancements.
  • Well organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to professionally interact with a diverse blend of personalities.
  • Ability to work within a team as well as independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
