Job summary

Prism Electric is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support field safety initiatives across Texas and Oklahoma. The role requires coordinating hazard analyses, conducting field safety walks, and driving corrective actions with project teams.

Candidate should have OSHA 30, knowledge of NFPA/NESC/ASTM/ANSI, and strong communication. The position includes comprehensive benefits and a path to growth within a respected electrical contractor.

Qualifications

• 2- or 4-year college degree desired, preferably in environmental health and safety.
• 1–3 years of construction safety experience (electrical safety experience preferred).
• OSHA 30 Construction required (OSHA 50 is a plus).
• Knowledge of NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI standards.
• CPR/FA certification (Trainer preferred).
• Ability to work independently with strong communication to influence behaviors.
• Bi-lingual desired to assist diverse workforce.

Responsibilities

• Support Crew Foreman/General Foremen in development of Job Hazard Analyses.
• Evaluate safety program effectiveness through daily field walks and audits.
• Meet with field personnel and help develop project-specific corrective action plans.
• Provide feedback to project leadership on safety improvements and recognition.
• Coach and mentor employees exhibiting unsafe behaviors and recognize safe behavior.
• Assist with jobsite safety orientations for new employees.
• Co-facilitate safety training and testing for all employees.
• Support incident investigations and oversee injury/illness cases.
• Monitor tool/equipment safety and maintenance (lifts, fall protection, etc.).
• Ensure CEI/Subcontractor compliance with safety rules and project requirements.
• Participate in weekly toolbox talks and daily safety meetings.

Responsibilities

• Support Crew Foreman/General Foremen in development of Job Hazard Analyses.
• Evaluate effectiveness of safety programs through daily field walks. Regulatory compliance and audit oversight.
• Meet regularly with field personnel and support in the development of project specific corrective action plans to address safety issues and concerns.
• Provide regular feedback to project leadership in a constructive manner on needed areas for safety improvement and recognition.
• Provide coaching and mentoring for employees exhibiting unsafe behaviors and provide recognition for employees exhibiting safe behaviors.
• Assist with delivery of jobsite specific safety orientations for new employees joining the project, as applicable.
• Assist and co-facilitate safety training, testing for all employees.
• Support Project Leadership in the completion of incident investigations.
• Facilitate all injury/illness cases.
• Perform periodic evaluations of power tools and equipment (i.e. scissor lifts, forklifts, fall protection, laser levelers, etc.) to ensure equipment is maintained in good working order, as applicable.
• Monitor and evaluate CEI/Subcontractor compliance with applicable rules and regulations, and project safety requirements.
• Support Project Leadership in the development and execution of weekly toolbox safety meetings.
• Attend the assigned safety meetings each morning:
• Ensure that meetings are taking place daily.
• Audit for continuity of topics to be discussed.
• Evaluate the participation of the crew and/or whether the foreman gave them an opportunity to do so.
• Evaluate meetings and provide feedback to Project Leadership on effectiveness.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the Flex & Stretch Program.
• Ensure Foremen, GF and Superintendents are evaluating the SPTP and giving appropriate coaching as needed.

Requirements

• 2- or 4-year college degree desired, preferably in environmental health and safety discipline.
• 1 - 3 years of construction safety experience (electrical safety experience preferred).
• OSHA 30 Construction required (OSHA 50 is a plus).
• Understanding electrical industry consensus standards such as NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI.
• Experience with construction workforce desired.
• CPR/FA Certified (Trainer Preferred).
• Ability to work independently, strong communication skills with the ability to influence behaviors.
• Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office.
• Bi-lingual desired.

The job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, and rain. Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses always), respirator when required. Able to work 8 -10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts. Includes crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects more than 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required. Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
