Job summary

Prism Electric is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support field safety programs across our electrical construction projects. You will help develop Job Hazard Analyses, monitor regulatory compliance, and partner with foremen to implement corrective actions and coach crews on safe behaviors.

The role requires 1–3 years in construction safety, OSHA 30, and the ability to work across diverse teams in varied environments. Physically capable of on-site duties with potential overtime and night shifts.

Qualifications

  • 2- or 4-year college degree in environmental health and safety preferred.
  • 1–3 years of construction safety experience (electrical safety preferred).
  • OSHA 30 Construction required; OSHA 50 is a plus.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI standards.
  • Basic computer and MS Office proficiency.
  • Bi-lingual desired.

Responsibilities

  • Support Crew Foreman/General Foremen in development of Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of safety programs through daily field walks; regulatory compliance and audits.
  • Meet with field personnel and assist in project-specific corrective action plans.
  • Provide feedback to project leadership on safety improvements and recognition.
  • Coach and mentor employees on safe behaviors and recognize safe performance.
  • Assist with safety orientations for new employees on site.
  • Co-facilitate safety training and testing for all employees.
  • Support incident investigations and safety reporting.
  • Facilitate injury/illness case management.
  • Inspect and evaluate power tools and equipment for safe operation.
  • Monitor CEI/Subcontractor compliance with safety rules.
  • Develop and execute weekly toolbox safety meetings.
  • Attend daily safety meetings; ensure topics are covered and participation is documented.
  • Evaluate meeting effectiveness and provide constructive feedback to leadership.
  • Evaluate and promote the Flex & Stretch Program.
  • Ensure foremen and superintendents coach and monitor SPTP progress.

Responsibilities
  • Support Crew Foreman/General Foremen in development of Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of safety programs through daily field walks. Regulatory compliance and audit oversight.
  • Meet regularly with field personnel and support in the development of project specific corrective action plans to address safety issues and concerns.
  • Provide regular feedback to project leadership in a constructive manner on needed areas for safety improvement and recognition.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for employees exhibiting unsafe behaviors and provide recognition for employees exhibiting safe behaviors.
  • Assist with delivery of jobsite specific safety orientations for new employees joining the project, as applicable.
  • Assist and co-facilitate safety training, testing for all employees.
  • Support Project Leadership in the completion of incident investigations.
  • Facilitate all injury/illness cases.
  • Perform periodic evaluations of power tools and equipment (i.e. scissor lifts, forklifts, fall protection, laser levelers, etc.) to ensure equipment is maintained in good working order, as applicable.
  • Monitor and evaluate CEI/Subcontractor compliance with applicable rules and regulations, and project safety requirements.
  • Support Project Leadership in the development and execution of weekly toolbox safety meetings.
  • Attend the assigned safety meetings each morning:
  • Ensure that meetings are taking place daily.
  • Audit for continuity of topics to be discussed.
  • Evaluate the participation of the crew and/or whether the foreman gave them an opportunity to do so.
  • Evaluate meetings and provide feedback to Project Leadership on effectiveness.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the Flex & Stretch Program.
  • Ensure Foremen, GF and Superintendents are evaluating the SPTP and giving appropriate coaching as needed.
Requirements
  • 2- or 4-year college degree desired, preferably in environmental health and safety discipline.
  • 1 - 3 years of construction safety experience (electrical safety experience preferred).
  • OSHA 30 Construction required (OSHA 50 is a plus).
  • Understanding electrical industry consensus standards such as NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI.
  • Experience with construction workforce desired.
  • CPR/FA Certified (Trainer Preferred).
  • Ability to work independently, strong communication skills with the ability to influence behaviors.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office.
  • Bi-lingual desired.

The job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, and rain. Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses always), respirator when required. Able to work 8 -10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts. Includes crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects more than 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required. Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
