Job summary

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to work overtime, on call and flexible in all shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in injury/illness and near-miss investigations, review reports, and follow up as necessary.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
  • Coordinate safety drills and emergency response plans.
  • Promote a safety culture within the organization.
  • Serve as a point of contact for safety concerns and inquiries.
  • Assist in assessments to reduce employees' exposure to work hazards.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct hazards.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting in developing and overseeing safety programs within an organization to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Safety Coordinator plays a vital role in risk assessment, accident prevention strategies and maintaining a safe work environment, The Safety Coordinator position requires not only technical knowledge of safety protocols but also the ability to communicate effectively with various teams and lead safety training initiatives. A Safety Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between employees and management regarding safety-related issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist in administering mandatory safety training for the plant to ensure compliance and ensure employees, temporary employees, and transferred employees receive proper training
  • Assist in the injury/illness and near-miss incident investigation process, review reports, and follow up as necessary
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections
  • Coordinate safety drills and emergency response plans
  • Promotes a safety culture within the organization
  • Serves as a point of contact for safety concerns and inquiries
  • Assist in assessments that will reduce employees' exposure to work hazards
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards
  • Prepare reports, present safety recommendations, and maintain corresponding accounts
  • Ensure employees operate in a safe, orderly, and clean environment. Drive the development of safe work procedures and make health and safety recommendations accordingly
  • Provides information and assistance to the safety committee and serves on the committee
  • Assists in the development and implementation of safety training programs for compliance with OSHA regulations and other federal, state, or local requirements
  • Stay updated on local, state, and federal safety regulations
ABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
  • Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules
  • Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • ISO sections about the position
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual preferred (ability to understand, read, write and speak English and Spanish)
  • Relevant experience in Manufacturing
  • Ability to conduct effective training sessions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Capacity to work overtime, on call and flexible in all shifts as needed

Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, walking (up to continuously); speaking/verbal communication, bend/stoop, twist neck and torso (frequently); air travel; frequent use of computer and telephone requiring finger, hand, and arm movement; occasionally carry office supplies and other miscellaneous items up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to temperatures commensurate with outdoor seasonal temperatures.
