Job summary

Inteplast Group is seeking a Safety Coordinator to promote a safe working environment across production, warehouse, maintenance, and shipping areas. This role will spend significant time on the manufacturing floor identifying hazards, coaching staff, investigating incidents, and enforcing safety policies.

The ideal candidate will have 1+ years of safety experience, an associate or bachelor’s degree in safety-related fields, and manufacturing experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Education preferred in safety/environmental health and safety; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 1+ years of experience in a safety role.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle non-standard work hours and maintain dependable attendance.
  • Ability to manage workplace stress and foster productive interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and throughout the facility.
  • Conduct daily safety observations, inspections, and audits to identify hazards and unsafe practices.
  • Work with employees and supervisors to correct hazards and improve safe work practices.
  • Assist with safety training, new employee orientations, and safety meetings.
  • Monitor compliance with safety policies, PPE, and required procedures.
  • Support safety programs including Lockout/Tagout, machine guarding, hazard communication, and ergonomics.
  • Encourage reporting of hazards and near-misses.
  • Participate in safety committee activities and safety initiatives.

Job description

Safety Coordinator

Position Objective

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting and supporting a safe work environment throughout the facility. This is a hands-on, floor-based position requiring daily interaction with employees, supervisors, and managers in production, warehouse, maintenance, and shipping operations. This position will spend a significant portion of each day on the manufacturing floor identifying hazards, observing work practices, coaching employees, investigating incidents, and ensuring safety policies and procedures are followed.

Qualifications


  • Education - associate or bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.

  • Experience - One or more years of experience in a safety related role.

  • Prefer previous work history in a manufacturing setting.

  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.

  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.


Job Responsibilities

  • Promote employee reporting of hazards, unsafe conditions, and near misses.

  • Participate in and support safety committee activities and employee safety initiatives.


Work Environment Conditions


  • Must be able to work in heat/humidity in summer months.


Physical Activity Required


  • Walk and stand for extended periods throughout a large manufacturing facility.

  • Regularly work on the production floor, in warehouse areas, and around manufacturing equipment.

  • Climb stairs and access various work areas as needed.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment.

  • Work around moving equipment, forklifts, machinery, noise, and other typical manufacturing conditions.


Visual Activity Required


  • Ability to see details at close range. The ability to see in low light conditions.
