Job summary

Champion Home Builders is seeking a Safety Coordinator to plan, direct, and drive the safety program across the organization, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. You will implement policies in line with OSHA standards, train managers and employees, and lead accident investigations.

The role reports to the Production Manager and requires strong communication, integrity, and the ability to work with senior leadership. Four to five years in housing-related safety is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and implements the organization's safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident free work environment.
  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accidents causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
  • Inspects facilities to detect hazards, determines corrective measures, and follows up to ensure implementation.
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of safety hazards.
  • Leads accident investigations and cooperates in preparation of material for hearings and investigations.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Oversees workers' compensation administration, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce lost time.
  • Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and materials for display and conferences.
  • Represents the organization in safety groups and programs.
  • Maintains safety files and records, both written and electronic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accidents causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accidents and health hazards, determines corrective or prevenative measures where indicated, and follows up tp ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Oversees the administartion of the workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
  • Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and materials for display, promotional work, industry conferences, and exhibitions
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs
  • Maintains safety files and records, both written and electronic.

Education And/or Experience

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivelent from a two-year college or technical school; four to five years related experience and/or training in the housing environment; or equivelent combination of education and experience.
