Job summary

Hill & Wilkinson seeks a proactive Safety Coordinator to support safety operations on large commercial construction projects in the Austin area. You will enforce site safety procedures, conduct inspections, and ensure OSHA compliance while focusing on MEP-heavy environments.

The role requires hands-on experience in mission-critical settings, OSHA 30 and related certifications, and the ability to coordinate with subcontractors and the project team to manage risks and maintain a strong safety

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of safety experience in commercial construction, 1–2 years on data center or mission critical projects.
  • Hands-on experience with MEP systems in live/high-voltage environments.
  • Must have OSHA 30 Certification; additional certifications are a plus.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA 70E, ANSI standards and local codes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence behavior and enforce standards.
  • Experience using digital safety tools or platforms (e.g., Procore, EHS software).
  • CPR/First Aid and Fall Protection training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing project-specific safety plans per OSHA and company policies.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and address hazards and unsafe behaviors.
  • Monitor high-risk activities (electrical, mechanical, equipment installations) for safe practices.
  • Lead daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and task-specific safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations and client protocols (OSHA, NFPA 70E).
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans.
  • Maintain safety records (JHAs, inspection reports, permits, injury logs).
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure PPE and safety guideline adherence.
  • Conduct safety orientations for new employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Review upcoming tasks, lift plans, and MOPs to identify risks.
  • Assist with client or regulatory safety audits and walkthroughs.
  • Promote positive safety culture through coaching and recognition.

Position Summary

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to support safety operations on large commercial construction projects in the Austin area. This position plays a key role in enforcing site‑specific safety procedures, conducting regular inspections, and ensuring full compliance with OSHA and project safety requirements. Candidates should have hands‑on experience in MEP‑heavy environments and a strong understanding of the risks involved in mission critical workspaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of project‑specific safety plans in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards.
  • Conduct routine job‑site safety inspections and promptly address any hazards or unsafe behaviors.
  • Monitor high‑risk activities including electrical, mechanical, and equipment installations to ensure safe work practices.
  • Lead daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and task‑specific safety meetings.
  • Ensure all safety practices align with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, and client‑specific protocols.
  • Support incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and help develop corrective action plans.
  • Maintain safety records including JHAs, inspection reports, permits, and injury logs.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to confirm adherence to project safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
  • Conduct safety orientations for new employees, subcontractors, and site visitors.

Qualifications
