Description Of Work

This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). OSHR supports the Governor's Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand a temporary skill set to enhance their qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. This temporary position is with NC DNCR - HR & Safety, located at 109 East Jones Street, Raleigh NC, Wake County 27601.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $34 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

  • Thorough knowledge of application requirements of a variety of safety topics, such as powered industrial trucks, permit required confined spaces, aerial lifts and respiratory protection
  • Ability to assess a technical safety program for gaps in compliance and specific custom needs
  • Ability to develop a technical safety program which includes writing a policy for, to develop/provide training and to evaluate the program performance
  • Ability to work independently and travel, some of which is overnight
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in writing with ability to establish professional working relationships with agency and outside personnel
Minimum Education And Experience

Bachelor's degree with a major in safety engineering, industrial engineering, industrial management or technology, occupational safety, or one of the physical sciences or an equivalent technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and a minimum of three years of progressive occupational and safety and health experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
