Job summary

Aims Community College in Colorado seeks a part-time Safety Associate to monitor the Strength Center and Cardiovascular Conditioning Studios, ensuring equipment is used safely and according to rules.

You will assist guests, demonstrate proper use, clean equipment, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with the Facility Lead. Hours 20–25 per week across Greeley and Windsor campuses; CPR/First Aid/AED certification required or obtainable.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or two (2) years physical education, recreation, fitness or related experience.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Knowledge of weight room operations and equipment safety.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Strength Center and Cardiovascular Conditioning Studios, ensuring proper use and safety.
  • Provide training and safety orientation on equipment use to user groups.
  • Address unsafe or inappropriate behaviors and enforce all rules.
  • Demonstrate proper equipment use and spot users as needed.
  • Clean equipment and return weights to their designated locations.
  • Oversee racquetball courts and gym spaces; respond to emergencies when needed and coordinate with administration.

This will include, but is not limited to: hourly cleaning and care of all fitness equipment, providing assistance to guests as needed, regular communication with Facility Lead regarding all aspects of gym operations.This position will have hours on the Greeley and/or Windsor Campus.Work Hours:Part-Time, 20 -25 hours/week within hours of operation.Job Duties:Oversee the Strength Center and Cardiovascular Conditioning Studios ensuring individuals and groups are using equipment correctly and following all safety procedures.Monitor facility and proactively provide specific instruction for appropriate training and conditioning equipment use and provide equipment safety orientation to user groups.Monitor participants in facility and address any unsafe or inappropriate behaviors.Be conscious of all equipment guidelines and regulations and consistently enforce all rules and eliminate unsafe apparel, equipment or activities.Demonstrate proper use of equipment and spot individuals using the Strength Center or Cardio Studios as needed or requested.Clean equipment periodically and return any equipment and or weights not in use to its designated location.Oversee racquetball courts and gymnasium spaces.Have the ability to lead and act in intense situations, and handle emergencies when they arise including contacting 911 if needed, reporting injury incidents to administration and completing accident and incident reports.Answer questions in person regarding facility and Physical Education courses, field walk-in visits.Minimum Qualifications:Associate's degree or two (2) years physical education, recreation, fitness, wellness or related experience.A pre-employment post offer physical exam will be required of the selected candidate. Physical effort required, including but not limited to: lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing and walking.Hold a valid CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain.
