Job summary

Aims Community College’s Early College Academy seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach Computer Information Systems and support dual enrollment pathways. The role primarily supports high school students earning college credit while completing high school requirements.

Responsibilities include developing and delivering CIS coursework, assessing student outcomes, and participating in Early College events. This position runs Monday through Friday with some evenings for conferences, and requires

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business administration with information technology emphasis, computer information systems, or computer science plus 2,000 hours of relevant industry experience within the last seven years.
  • Master's degree including 18 graduate credit hours in teaching area plus 2,000 hours of industry experience within the last seven years.
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer related field plus 4,000 hours of industry experience within the last seven years.
  • Associate of Applied Science degree in a computer related field plus 4,000 hours of industry experience within the last seven years.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with Early College assignment schedule and events.
  • Teach and develop curriculum to meet program goals and standards.
  • Implement and update instructional materials to align with outcomes.
  • Assess student learning and participate in program assessment.
  • Support Early College events and related duties as assigned.

The Early College High School program gives high school students the opportunity to earn a high school diploma while subsequently earning an Associate of Arts degree. Occasional travel may be required.**Job Duties:*** Maintain compliance with the requirements of the Early College assignment, including contract days, work-day schedule, and participating in Early College events such as New Student Orientation, Student Registration, In-Service Days and Parent/Teacher Conferences as specified in the Early College Faculty contract addendum.* Maintain compliance with the provisions of the College’s part-time faculty position description including teaching to develop, implement, evaluate and update the purpose, philosophy, objectives and organizational framework of the program.* Maintain compliance regarding all faculty responsibilities enumerated in the College Policies and Procedures.* Provide effective and high-quality instruction in all levels of course offerings by continually refining and modernizing curriculum so that it remains educationally sound and meets the high standards of the College.* Use alternative delivery technology in lecture and laboratory instruction to enhance student learning.* Apply learning-centered educational practices such as creating and communicating clearly defined outcomes for student learning.* Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes.* Perform other duties as assigned.**Work Hours:** Monday-Friday at Early College Academy. Some evenings for parent/teacher conferences and other school activities.**Minimum Qualifications:*** Master's degree in business administration with information technology emphasis, computer information systems, or computer science plus 2,000 hours of relevant industry experience within the last seven years **OR** Master's degree including 18 graduate level credit hours in one of the disciplines they will be teaching plus 2,000 hours of relevant industry experience within the last seven years **OR** Bachelor's degree in a computer related field plus 4,000 hours of industry experience within the last seven years **OR** Associate of Applied Science degree in a computer related field plus 4,000 hours of industry experience within the last seven years.
