As a DIR Safety and Security Supervisor, you will help lead and facilitate the Department's Emergency Preparedness and Security efforts for over 3,000 employees across 40+ office locations statewide.
The Safety and Security Unit is responsible for the safety of all buildings, working with local staff, management, property managers and partners in law enforcement, the Office of Emergency Services, CalFire, and other local agencies. In collaboration with other members of the Safety and Security Unit, this role is responsible for coordinating emergency preparedness drills, exercises, evacuations, and developing, implementing, and monitoring office emergency preparedness policies and security procedures. In this role, the incumbent will coordinate with DIR and building staff in the event of an emergency or natural disaster by working with internal and external subject matter experts to maximize the safety and security of people and property.
The Safety and Security Unit independently manages the development and annual submission of the Department’s Business Continuity Plan, Business Impact Analysis, and Business Continuity Checklist to the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES). They also lead the development, training, and testing of the roles and responsibilities of the Business Continuity Plan.
Under the general direction of the Supervisor II, the Safety and Security Supervisor I is responsible for daily oversight and management of the Safety and Security Unit. The incumbent provides oversight and direction to subordinate staff, coordinates, plans, organizes, and oversees functions including, but not limited to: personnel management, health/safety, security, emergency preparedness, building access systems, and managing related procurement efforts for the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR).
