Job summary

Givens Communities is hiring a part-time and PRN Safety and Security Officer to protect our Asheville campuses. The role focuses on access control, incident response, and safety drills across Givens Highland Farms and Givens Estates Campus.

You will respond to emergencies, monitor alarms, escort residents and staff, and coordinate with EMS. A NC driver's license, CPR/First Aid certs, and security experience are strongly valued.

Qualifications

• CPR and First Aid certifications required or able to obtain within 90 days.
• EMT certification preferred.
• Law enforcement or security experience strongly preferred.
• Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification must be obtained after hire.
• Two years security officer experience preferred.
• Must have a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor emergency call dashboard and respond to alarms.
• Maintain active BOLO and trespass/RO notices.
• Manage unauthorized vehicles on campus and provide escort as needed.
• Assist EMS personnel with directions and support in emergencies.
• Investigate safety/security incidents and document outcomes.
• Conduct safety drills, including fire alarm training.
• Assist with campus maintenance tasks and litter removal.
• Provide security for staff and residents and assist HR matters.
• Respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies as first responder.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

We are hiring a PT and PRN Safety and Security Officer for our Givens Highland Farms and Givens Estates Campus. The Safety and Security Officer position has the primary role to provide access control to the Givens Communities campuses, respond to campus emergencies, provide traffic control, patrol the campus, investigate safety/security instances and report, conduct safety drills, monitor alarms, secure buildings, ensure visitors sign in, provide light duty maintenance tasks, and provide transportation for residents. We are looking for open availability for scheduling:

Givens Highland Farms: This PT role would work no more than 24 hours per week and would focus afternoons and evening shifts.

Givens Estates: This PRN role would work no more than 20 hours per week and could be scheduled any shift.

What you'll do:

• Monitor emergency call dashboard for alarms/alerts and respond accordingly
• Maintain information of active BOLO notices, trespass notices, and/or restraining order information for team member/resident concerns
• Handle situations dealing with unauthorized vehicles not willing to exit campus
• Assist EMS personnel. Provide directions or locate residences, provide other support in emergency situations
• Investigate any safety and security instances and respond accordingly. Provide appropriate documentation of event
• Conduct safety drills including but not limited to fire alarm training in the licensed areas of campus
• Assist in keeping campus clean by picking up litter/debris in and around buildings
• Acts as security for and responds to staff and/or resident related issues. Including, team member terminations when requested by Human Resources
• Provide initial response to maintenance emergency calls after normal business hours
• Perform as a First Responder to resident emergency calls
• Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as-needed basis by an authorized supervisor

What you'll need:

• Must have certifications including CPR and First Aid, or ability to obtain such with 90-days
• Preferred candidate will have EMT certification
• Law enforcement or previous security experience strongly preferred
• Must have/be willing to obtain Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification once hired
• Preferred candidate will have two years previous experience as a security officer, or similar
• Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License
• High School or GED equivalent is preferred

Compensation is $19.50 - $23.50 per hour, based on experience, plus shift differentials, plus our comprehensive benefits package!
