Job summary

The Hun School of Princeton is seeking a part-time Safety and Security Officer to protect campus assets and people across our 45-acre campus in Princeton, NJ. You will patrol, observe, and respond to safety issues while maintaining a welcoming, respectful atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors.

Ideal candidates bring calm under pressure, good communication, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. A valid driver’s license and background check are required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and instruct students, employees, and visitors on proper campus behavior.
• Warn violators of rules in an authoritative, professional manner.
• Assist with safety, security, crowd control, and parking during events.
• Conduct building security assessments to ensure doors, windows, and vehicles are secure.
• Perform tasks supportive of the essential functions of the job.

Reporting to the Director of Safety and Security, responsibilities of the part-time Safety and Security Officer will include providing unparalleled service, protection, and safety to our School assets while patrolling all areas of our idyllic forty-five-acre campus reasonably accommodating the open, trusting, and friendly culture of the School.

Responsibilities overview:

• Patrol all areas on campus to maintain visibility;
• Observe all areas on campus for possible irregular or unusual activity or conditions that may create safety hazards or security concerns;
• Provide assistance and collaboration on any safety and security related accidents and incidents;
• Serve as a first responder for campus emergencies;
• Monitor and instruct students, employees, and visitors on proper lawful and safe campus or facility behavior and conduct;
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as smoking in an authoritative, but professional friendly manner;
• Assist with safety, security, crowd control, and parking challenges during special events;
• Conduct building security assessments for all areas on campus to ensure doors, windows, equipment, and School vehicles are properly secure;
• Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, which may be altered or redesigned as necessary.
