Job summary

Korry Electronics is seeking a Senior Safety & Reliability Engineer to lead safety processes, analyses, and certification activities for our civil and military avionics display systems. You will perform FMEA, fault tree analysis, and risk assessments, collaborate with design, components, and quality teams, and ensure DO-178/DO-254 compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

This onsite role is based in Everett, WA and requires seven-plus years in aerospace safety, with strong knowledge of

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Aerospace discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of Safety & Reliability Engineering experience.
  • Experience with safety and reliability software such as Windchill Risk & Reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Safety and Reliability Analysis: develop reports including Reliability Analyses, FMEA, and Fault Trees.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with design, components, and quality teams to drive corrective actions.
  • Manage safety requirements across product lifecycle and participate in design reviews for compliance.
  • Perform risk assessments including safety and cybersecurity for new products and reports.
  • Utilize standards MIL-STD-882, DO-178, DO-254 and reliability testing methods (HALT, HASS, ESS).
  • Support FRACAS and field reliability tracking.

Join our team as a Senior Safety & Reliability Engineer and help shape the next generation of civil and military avionics display systems that support pilots around the world.

What You Will Do:

Korry Electronics is looking for a Senior-level Safety & Reliability Engineer to play a key role in development, certification, and support of our advanced civil and military avionics systems and subsystems.

As a Safety & Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for safety processes, methodologies and best practices, assessing and defining product architecture, examining failure modes and probabilities to ensure our products meet their requirements. You'll work within a fast-paced, creative engineering environment, acting as an individual contributor within a multi-disciplined team to ensure our products are safe, robust, and reliable. This is an opportunity to directly impact the performance and success of cutting-edge aerospace and defense products.

This role is based in Everett, WA.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Safety and Reliability Analysis: Develop and analyze critical reports, including Reliability Analyses, Fault Trees, Common Cause Analyses, and Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with design, components, and quality engineering teams to identify requirements, pinpoint non-conformances, and drive corrective actions.
  • Design & Compliance: Manage aircraft safety requirements throughout the product lifecycle using both top-down and bottom-up methodologies. Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Risk Assessment: Facilitate risk assessments, including safety and cybersecurity, for new products and problem reports, and generate comprehensive reports.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize your expertise in industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD-882, DO-178, DO-254) and reliability testing methods (HALT, HASS, ESS) to guide development.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS) and contribute to field reliability tracking efforts.
  • Customer Communication: Maintain strong communication with customer counterparts and program managers throughout the development process.
  • Performs special projects/tasks as assigned.
Preferred Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Aerospace Engineering discipline.
Preferred Experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Safety & Reliability Engineering.
  • Experience with Safety & Reliability software such as PTC Windchill/Windchill Risk & Reliability.
  • Familiarity with derating and maintenance/packaging design analysis.
  • Skills:
  • Expertise in aerospace equipment certification processes.
  • Proficiency with fault tree analysis tools (e.g., CAFTA Fault Tree or Relex Fault Tree).
  • Working knowledge of communication protocols.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical models.
  • Working knowledge of relevant standards: MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-HDBK-472, DO-160.
  • Experience with STPA or CAST.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering and requirements capture software (e.g., DOORs)
  • Experience with software-based systems and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab) is a plus.
  • Experience with Jira, ADO, or other program management tools is a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge of cyber security protocols like DO-326 is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent use of personal computers, database and digital platforms, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and computer printers.
  • Frequently uses hands, fingers, and arms to reach, handle, touch or feel equipment, materials, and computer.
  • The person in this position needs to frequently move inside the office
