Job summary

A leading company in engineering services seeks a Safety & Health Specialist I to assist with site-specific safety plans and compliance with SH&E regulations. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of technical experience in occupational health or safety and familiarity with OSHA standards. This role emphasizes teamwork and requires excellent communication skills, in a culture that values inclusivity and empowerment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years technical experience or educational equivalent in the field.
  • Completion of 40 hour HAZWOPER training course.
  • Previous SH&E work experience with construction.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in development of site-specific safety plans and programs.
  • Support SH&E training as part of company and client requirements.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Safety & Health Specialist I, we'll count on you to:
  • Assist in development of site-specific safety plans/programs, Job Hazard Analysis and other administrative functions in support of project/office SH&E requirements
  • Have a working knowledge of SH&E regulatory codes to include both federal and state and be able to support SH&E training as part of company and client requirements
  • Have a working knowledge of company SH&E websites, processes and procedures such as use of company's incident reporting system, WorkCare and other SH&E department policies and guidelines in support of SH&E requirements within an office and field environment
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in one or more SH&E fields (Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS)).
  • Completion of 40 hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response(HAZWOPER) training course
  • Previous SH&E work experience with construction
  • Has worked on NYCDEP projects
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years technical experience or educational equivalent (minimum of associate degree) in occupational health/safety related field
  • Extensive knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of OSHA & ANSI regulatory standards
  • Ability to instruct and facilitate Safety, Health and Environmental training courses
  • Team-oriented with exceptional written and oral skills in support of company SH&E requirements
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
