This full-time professional role focuses on aligning policies with federal, state, and local regulations to ensure a safe workplace across CVA's network.

The candidate will implement OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations, coordinate training, audits, and incident investigations, and mentor staff on safety initiatives.

• Four-year degree in a related field and/or 2–5 years’ experience.

PURPOSE

As a Safety and Compliance Director at Central Valley Ag you will be responsible for the development of the Cooperative’s safety policy and direction of our safety culture. This position will also be responsible for ensuring that Central Valley Ag’s policies and procedures are aligned with governmental regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for implementing OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and communicating necessary information to all areas of the cooperative.
• Facilitates a working environment that supports a safe and healthy culture.
• Conducts or coordinates worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment.
• Performs safety audits and inspects facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Investigates industrial, near-miss and occupational incidents to determine causes, installs preventative measures and manages return-to-work activities.
• Provides technical advice, coaching, guidance and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives, changes and committees.
• Coordinates employee safety programs to determine their adequacy including review of short and long term strategic safety planning and development.
• Plans, organizes and executes compliance programs in conjunction with the Talent Team Manager concerning areas of employment and education under authority of federal, state or local discriminatory legislation.
• Plans, assigns and directs work of employees in regard to safety compliance and addresses complaints and resolves problems in conjunction with the Location Manager.
• Orders and maintains cooperative safety inventory including supplies and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directs employees on matters of Safety.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Four-year degree in a related field and/or 2 to 5 years’ experience.
• Hold a valid driver's license.
• Great understanding of the safety industry in agriculture.
• Ability to communicate in a professional manner and establish effective working relationships with internal operations and external customers.
• Works in a way that demonstrates safety is a priority. Promotes a work environment that is safe for everyone.

• Ability to read and interpret documents required.
