Job summary

Central Connecticut Coast YMCA seeks a School Age Child Care (SACC) Head Teacher to lead on-site school-age programs, ensuring a safe, engaging environment that supports development. You will coordinate daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with licensing and YMCA policies while modeling core values.

Qualifications

• Must meet CT Office of Early Childhood requirements for Head Teacher in school-age programs.
• Two pathways: high school diploma/equivalent with 540 hours supervised experience and 12 college credits in related field; or Bachelor’s in childhood education or child development with 270 hours supervised experience.

Responsibilities

• Models YMCA core values with children, families, and staff; promotes a welcoming, inclusive environment.
• Leads daily program operations for assigned site(s), including routines and supervision.
• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate activities aligned with program goals.
• Supervises, coaches, and supports site staff; communicates staffing needs and feedback.
• Maintains relationships with families and school partners; handles concerns professionally.
